We’ve hit 2023 running (surfing) with the announcement of our first fundraising event, our annual Charity Dinner at Noosa.

We are stoked to announce that attending this year will be longboard queen Belinda Baggs and surfer/filmmaker, Lauren Hill. Our guests will be informally interviewed by the legendary John (JC) Charlton who is sure to extract plenty of great stories from their careers and surfing lives.

This is a great opportunity to get together, have some fun and raise funds for local kids with disabilities & mental health problems.

Our Charity Auction on the night will include locally shaped boards designed for the Noosa points, surf memorabilia from our guests and surf art, with 100% of proceeds going to local kids with disabilities.

Donations of auction gear are welcome with social and event recognition assured.

For those who don’t yet know our guest speakers, Belinda or Bindy Baggs as she is known, is one of the most graceful long boarders around. She has had a very successful career as a pro surfer which includes the Australian title in 2000 and 3rd place that same year in the World Tour. She has a very strong connection with the sea and a passion for environmental protection. As an ambassador with Take 3 For The Sea and Global Sports Activist with Patagonia, Bindy is a key campaigner in the successful Fight for the Bight campaign. As a mother to a 9-year-old boy, she is committed to safeguarding the future for the next generation. “Combating the climate crisis is a hugely important part of my role as a parent,” she says.

Lauren Hill is a surfer, writer, mother, podcaster, activist, and Patagonia Surf Ambassador. She is the co-host of the Waterpeople podcast and the author of She Surf: The Rise of Female Surfing.
Lauren is a professional surfer, writer and director who has spent the past decade exploring new waves and documenting surf cultures around the world through an eco-feminist lens. She develops projects that revolve around the power of storytelling to build community and inspire action to protect our planet.

Lauren grew up on Florida’s East Coast and was a U.S. Women’s Longboard Champion (under 18) and has degrees in Environmental and Social Science. Lauren is now based near Byron Bay, Australia. 

Lauren writes for a variety of publications, ranging from academic to mainstream media in the US, Europe, and Australia. She was a senior writer for Surfing World Magazine and has appeared in award-winning documentary films including The Church of the Open Sky, Bella Vita, Beyond the Surface, The Heart & The Sea, and Transparent Sea Voyage.
